The thickness and width of a thrust bearing are critical. A few hundredths of a millimeter changes how the crankshaft sits, and that changes oil clearance and engine behavior. In our shop, we keep the old bearing and the part number together until the new one is installed. That habit has caught two ordering mistakes before they became teardowns. Scenario 4: What Happens When a Linear Actuator Fails?
